Troubleshooting
Find solutions to common issues and ensure your lock is working smoothly at all times.
Updating Lock Firmware
Firmware updates are released periodically and usually start automatically when the lock owner connects to the lock locally. Updates take around 5–15 minutes, during which you can still use the lock in the app. Keep your phone close to the lock, with Bluetooth enabled and the Yale Home app open, until the update is complete. How do I Factory Reset my lock?
To factory reset your lock, stay within Bluetooth range, open the Yale Home app, select your lock, go to Settings > Utilities > Factory Reset, and follow the on‑screen steps. This restores the lock to factory settings and removes it from your app.I need to reset a previously owned device
Previously owned Yale smart locks must be factory reset before setup by a new owner. If the lock wasn’t reset, Yale will need the previous owner’s permission to release it, which can take up to 30 days. If possible, contact the seller directly to reset the device faster. If bought from a retailer, contact them to arrange an exchange.I received a request to factory reset my lock?
This means someone is requesting permission to reset a Yale smart lock that’s still registered to your account. To allow this, select “Yes” in the email. Approving the request gives Yale permission to factory reset the lock, removes your ownership, and revokes access for all existing users. Please note, the request expires after 30 days.
